Shop Assistant

Job Summary:

CCS Group is looking for a Shop Assistant to support daily shop operations by assisting with equipment maintenance, organizing tools and materials, maintaining the shop and yard, and preparing materials for job sites. This position helps ensure the shop operates efficiently and that crews have the equipment and supplies needed to perform their work safely and effectively.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Assist with receiving deliveries and stocking materials.

  • Help clean, inspect, maintain, and perform minor repairs on company tools and equipment, reporting mechanical issues to the Shop Manager.

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the shop, grounds, and storage areas. Including general building and grounds maintenance such as sweeping, trash removal, snow removal, mowing, and basic upkeep.

  • Stage, load, and organize materials and equipment needed for upcoming job sites. Assist with loading and unloading trucks and returning materials after jobs are completed.

  • Assist Shop Manager with general shop operations, maintain a safe and organized workspace, and support field crews with equipment or materials as needed.

  • Some travel required to haul materials to and from job sites job in-state and out of state.

  • Physical Demands:

  • Must have physical strength, balance, hand-eye coordination, and stamina necessary to complete jobs in various areas.

  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 80 pounds and push and/or pull 50-pound loads at a time.

Qualifications:

  • Prior experience preferred but not required.

  • Ability to listen to, understand, and follow directions.

  • Ability to remain flexible as specific assignments change.

  • Ability to work with a variety of personalities.

  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic as needed to count and take inventory.

Location: Waverly, Nebraska shop location

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

Individual must have or be willing to obtain,

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) preferred.

  • Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to use hand tools and a forklift

  • Valid driver’s license

Salary: $20/Hour; final rate determined by experience, skills, and qualifications.
