Human Resource Director

Job Summary:

This position is responsible for the key accountabilities of:

  • Retention

  • Benefits

  • Hiring/ Termination

  • Compliance/ Policy Review

  • Employee Advocacy

  • Payroll

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following with potential for other duties assigned.

Compliance/ Policy Review

  • Manage legal requirements affecting human resources functions and ensure policies, procedures, compliance with federal, state, and local employment and benefits laws and regulations.

  • Manage current HR software.

  • Collect, maintain, and secure confidential personnel files.

  • Prepare and maintain the Employee Team Guide (Handbook), Safety Manual, and other required regulatory programs.

  • Manage job descriptions.

  • Maintain and update Labor Law posters when needed for job trailers.

  • Maintain accurate drivers/D.O.T. files and notify employee(s) of any missing, needed, or updated items. i.e., driver’s license, work permits, D.O.T., physicals, etc.

  • Develop and maintain employee training verification files and certificates.

  • Manage workman’s comp injuries, reporting, and communication with insurance company, case nurse, etc.

Employee Retention/ Advocacy

  • Communicate with new hires within 30 days of hire date for employee feedback, questions, concerns, and suggestions.

  • Administer and schedule performance appraisals.

  • Manage employee development, training, and improvement programs.

  • Recommend and implement new approaches, policies, and procedures to continually employee retention and advocacy.

  • Promote employee interests, create a work environment, and culture in which people choose to be motivated and happy.

Benefits

  • Manage employee benefits.

  • Reconcile monthly benefits invoices for accuracy and verify employee withholding totals with Controller.

  • Randomly selects and schedules monthly drug/alcohol tests with employees.

  • Conducts wage surveys within labor markets to determine competitive wage rates for current and future positions.

  • Send toothbrushes.

Hiring/ Termination

  • Recruit, screen, interview, and select employees to fill vacant positions.

  • Manage the onboarding process.

  • Prepares employee separation notices and related documentation, contacts corporate attorney when needed, and conducts exit interviews to determine reasons behind separations.

  • Assist with new hire accommodations such as travel, hotel, and crew placement.

Payroll

  • Entry and management of payroll process.

Travel

  • Incident and accident investigation.

  • Occasional job site visits.

  • Trade show assistance as needed.

  • Off-site training opportunities.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations, and Skills

Current Driver’s License

Bilingual required (Spanish)
